Powerful You women's networking opportunity

Hello everyone!

I wanted to post a comment about a tele-call I was on yesterday morning. I came here this morning and with the synchronicity of the universe at work, I see I posted a comment exactly a year ago about this same website.

So, the tele-call was about Powerful You women's groups. From what I've learned it is similar to the WOVEN concept that Marian has envisioned, but with a national backing. These groups, which for the most part are currently only in the states, have a monthly meeting which is open to women. Members are a mix of business professionals, stay-at-home moms, young women, grandmothers, etc. that want to get together, make new friends and grow. It's about building relationships, both business and personal. And it's about spiritual growth.

Each meeting has a speaker & discussion about a topic, either business or personal growth. New members & groups are introduced. Members moments of personal aha & success are celebrated. The meetings are closed with moments of gratitude.

A group requires two co-facilitators. The founders, Sue Urda and Kathy Fyler, have developed marketing support, training support and more to support women that want to start a group.

So, I'm wondering if there are other local women interested in starting such a group? I joined an early morning introduction call yesterday. These phone calls are held at least once a week - sign up is available on the main website www.powerfulyou.com. If there are some women out there willing to be co-facilitators, I'm willing to help as well.

Check out the site, and email me your thoughts. Or post them here. I'll be posting a similar post to this on my other sites http://northcoastbconline.ning.com and http://nbcmindbodyspirit.ning.com asking for input.

Sound wellness & meditation classes in Terrace

Ladies, just wanted to let you know that Penny from Blossomings.ca (formerly Branwyn's Closet) will be offering two new courses in September 2009. One is on meditation, and the other is on sound wellness/healing. For more info, check out the pages "Workshops" and "Courses" on her website www.blossomings.ca

(If you have problems displaying the site using the latest Internet Explorer 8, I found it worked after using the "Compatibility View" button in Explorer)

I've also started a special group in my social network http://northcoastbconline.ning.com/group/healthandwellness for discussion of health & wellness. I'll post any news I get about upcoming courses and other news there.

Powerful women's websites

I received an email notice this morning of a comment posted on one of my networking profiles and thought I'd share it as well as links to some other great websites for women.

This morning was from Sue Urda at http://www.powerfulyou.com/. I haven't had much of a chance yet to browse through this site. She has a network of womens groups through the US and is looking at expanding into Canada.

http://www.venusfactor.com by Jill Bertelli - online ebooks & course + members forum. I joined this site back in September 2008 and have been slowly going through the lessons. My membership fee was somewhere around $34 US for a year & a portion of the site proceeds is donated to charities.
"The Venus Factor website is an online learning center that focuses on empowering women physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It was created by Jill Bertelli, LCSW in 2008 and is based on over 20 years of research, study and professional experience in therapy, nutrition, exercise, wellness, behavioral models of change and spiritual searching."

And the last, for men & women, is http://www.powerfulintentions.org. It is built on a social networking site known as www.Ning.com. This site originally started when the movie "The Secret" first came out. It has undergone a transformation in the last year or so. It now boasts over 10,000 members (membership is free) and has a variety of group discussion topics such as law of attraction, gratitude, indigo adults, spiritual guides, Abraham-Hicks, Switchwords, numerology, astrology, buddhism, dreams, abundance for beginners, Venus Factor, energy reading practice, Easy World, affirmations and so many more! Members also share photos, inspirational videos & music, blogs.

Both Powerful Intentions and Venus Factor have been great relief valves & discussions for me this past fall as I work through some personal internal clutter and gain a deeper understanding of the universal laws.

Unity Church

I've never been a religious person as the majority of the churches I've attended haven't felt comfortable. A bit of a disappointment to my mother who was raised Reorganized Latter Day Saints. I didn't want to be a member out of fear of being - cast into hell for not being baptised. And I couldn't decide - was there a god? So I slowly floundered along developing my spirituality.

I still have problems with the term "God" because of my belief associations with some of man's definitions and his use of God's name to start religious wars. But in the past couple of years I've come to believe I am a part of the universe, universal energy and as such everyone is a part of me and I'm a part of them. Instead of "God" I use "Divine" or "universe".

About a year ago I came across the magazine "Issues For Empowerment" for the first time. This was the first place I'd come across the Unity Church concept. I was curious, but didn't do any research into the church. Until about a month ago when I received an email through a subscription to Anita Pathik Law, a notice that she would be speaking at the Unity Church of Creative Living (Florida). This got my attention - a church that invited "whoo whoo meditators" to speak to members.

So I Googled the website of Unity Church of Creative Living in Jacksonville, Florida and received a very pleasant surprise. Not only do they have the usual ministries, they have meditation groups, drumming events, Tai Chi classes, toning circles (eg. crystal singing bowls), tarot group, and guest speakers like Echkart Tolle. A little research into Unity Church brings to light that they believe salvation isn't limited to after death - that salvation occurs now when you are conscious of your spirituality. That heaven and hell are not locations - it's our states of consciousness. That baptism is the symbolic inflow of spirit - an individual mental/spiritual process.

This sounds more like a church where I believe I'd feel at home. Unfortunately, I'd have to move to at least the southern interior in order to physically attend a church. Thanks to the Internet, I've discovered for my further investigation Unity FM and a variety of services are podcasted.
